HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, announced today that Sarah Corley, M.D., FACP, chief medical officer for NextGen Healthcare, has been elected to serve on the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Association Executive Committee.
The executive committee represents the EHR Association in collaboration with other industry organizations such as the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the American Hospital Association (AHA), College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), by setting Association policy and direction in conjunction with Association workgroups. The executive committee is responsible for establishing the guiding principles of the EHR Association and for developing and implementing strategic plans.
In her role as NextGen’s chief medical officer, on a day-to-day basis, Corley ensures NextGen® products meet the needs of clinicians, such as clinical documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements. She also manages a team of physicians employed by NextGen Healthcare to help clients maximize the benefits of health IT and improve workflow.

Corley continues to serve part-time as a primary care internist in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. She also currently serves as the chair of the EHR Association Patient Safety Workgroup, collaboratively working with member companies and key stakeholders to advance the safe use of EHRs. She served a four-year term as Governor of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and a six-year term on their National Medical Informatics Subcommittee. She served two terms as a Commissioner for the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT). Corley represents the ACP on the Physicians Electronic Health Record Coalition. She received post-graduate training in Medical Informatics at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). She has used electronic health records for the past 20 years and has spoken extensively on the subject. Her research interest lies in using EHRs to improve quality in medical practices.
