PETERSBURG, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With spring and warmer weather just around the corner, Pamplin Historical Park founder and owner Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr. is pleased to announce that the park will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning March 3. This represents the first time that the park will be open on Sundays since 2008.
“Pamplin Historical Park is one of the best-preserved Civil War sites in the country, and we are pleased to now be open seven days a week,” said Pamplin. “As we are in the midst of commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, it is my hope that families and history enthusiasts alike will seize this opportunity to visit Pamplin Historical Park to learn more about this era that was so important in the shaping of our great nation.”
Located in Dinwiddie County, Va., Pamplin Historical Park is the site of the Breakthrough Battle of April 2, 1865. The 424-acre park houses four award-winning museums, four antebellum homes, living history venues and shops. The park features the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, which includes the “Duty Called Me Here” exhibit. This nationally recognized museum uses MP3 audio players along with computers, videos, life-sized dioramas, more than 1,000 original objects and a multisensory battlefield simulation to guide patrons through the experiences of Civil War soldiers.
