California ISO Board Appoints New Corporate Officer

Roger Collanton is Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary

FOLSOM, Calif.--()--The California Independent System Operator Corporation Board of Governors has appointed Roger Collanton to the position of Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary, effective February 17, 2014. Mr. Collanton succeeds Nancy Saracino, who, after nearly seven years of service to the ISO, resigned in early February to return to private practice.

Mr. Collanton serves as the ISO’s chief legal officer, leading the ISO’s legal, internal audit and corporate compliance functions, as well as advising the Board of Governors on legal, governance and corporate issues.

“We will certainly miss Nancy, her excellent leadership and all she did to contribute to a world class organization and we are grateful for her years of excellent service to the ISO. We are also fortunate to have someone with Roger’s expertise and background ready to step into one of the most critical officer roles at the ISO,” said ISO President and CEO Steve Berberich. “We know that Roger will provide the leadership needed to guide the ISO in its compliance with the many complex laws and regulations we operate under, as we maintain system reliability.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of such an excellent leadership team in a world class organization.” Mr. Collanton said. “This is an exciting time for the ISO as we work towards launching a western energy imbalance market this fall. But, this is just one of the many cutting-edge initiatives underway at the ISO, as we lead the way in working towards a greener, more efficient grid.”

Mr. Collanton has over 18 years of legal experience and was most recently the ISO’s Deputy General Counsel. Prior to joining the ISO in 2009, he was a partner at the law firm of Morrison & Foerser, LLP in San Francisco. He is a member of the California Bar and has extensive experience in appearing before state and federal courts throughout California and the United States. Mr. Collanton received his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1995 and was awarded a B.S. degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University in 1986. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1987. Prior to law school, Mr. Collanton practiced as a certified public accountant with Price Waterhouse and was a corporate controller for a privately-held company.
