Global Capacity Selects Overture Solutions to Support Expanding Ethernet Service

Overture 6500 provide extensive capabilities to meet flexible, high-capacity market demands

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--()--Overture today announced that Global Capacity, a leading network connectivity company, has selected the award-winning 6500 Multi-service CE2.0-certified Carrier Ethernet platform to expand its One Marketplace Ethernet interconnect offering. The Overture 6500 is a scalable, high resiliency Carrier Ethernet aggregation and switching platform that delivers performance-assured services over fiber, E-Access, copper, TDM and SONET/SDH.

One Marketplace offers customers the options of 1 or 10 Gig ENNIs connecting to more than 3,000,000 addresses in the U.S. with native Ethernet services. With access to Global Capacity’s One Marketplace, service providers can use a single interconnect to procure and connect to their end customers using Ethernet over Fiber, Ethernet over TDM and legacy TDM services delivering near ubiquitous reach.

The Overture 6500 received a 2013 Gold Stevie Award in the “Best New Telecommunications Product” category and will support Global Capacity’s first 10 Gig ENNI offering and optical Ethernet connections, with initial deployments at the company’s Ashburn, VA Point of Presence.

“Global Capacity’s unique One Marketplace interconnected architecture requires a Carrier Ethernet platform that can support our diverse requirements, including advanced VLAN tag manipulation, large scale service assurance, local switching, and high degrees of resiliency required for thousands of E-Access connections,” said Mary Stanhope, VP of Product and Marketing Global Capacity. “The Overture 6500 was the best product we found that could perform the complex provisioning, tagging and performance management features needed to deliver MEF-certified Ethernet to our growing customer base.”

“Our engagement with Global Capacity began with our 6000 platform, and we’re pleased to now be playing a even bigger role in supporting their Ethernet over fiber business model, and helping their customers accelerate time-to-market for network services,” said Mike Aquino, president and CEO, Overture. “With its truly unique E-Access aggregation and switching feature set, the 6500 is ideally suited to help simplify Global Capacity’s Ethernet over anything network marketplace, which offers buyers a cost-effective and efficient means to expand their performance-assured networks. We look forward to helping Global Capacity continue to innovate and streamline service delivery.”
