HIMSS Foundation Acquires The Online Journal of Nursing Informatics

CHICAGO--()--HIMSS Foundation and the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community announce a new acquisition - The Online Journal of Nursing Informatics (OJNI). The February 2014 issue debuts at HIMSS14, available online and on a new website.

OJNI is a free, international, professional, peer-reviewed electronic journal that is published quarterly and supports all functional areas of nursing informatics. OJNI, launched in 1996, with readership spanning over 49 countries, focuses on nursing informatics in all practice settings. OJNI is committed to addressing the theoretical and practical aspects of nursing informatics as it relates to the field of nursing.

Dee McGonigle, PhD, RN, FACCE, FAAN is the founder of OJNI and served as the OJNI editor in chief from 1996-2013, and spearheaded the new relationship between OJNI and the HIMSS Foundation. McGonigle has championed OJNI as a volunteer-led effort committed to enhancing nursing informatics knowledge for nurses working in diverse settings.

“OJNI’s contribution to nursing’s body of knowledge is widely acknowledged and appreciated,” said Joyce Sensmeier, MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FAAN vice president of informatics for HIMSS. “Through the addition of OJNI to the HIMSS Foundation and the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community, we have an exciting opportunity to further enhance and disseminate nursing informatics knowledge and research.”
