Iatric Systems Celebrates Decade-long Leadership in Protecting Patient Privacy

Iatric Systems pioneered patient privacy monitoring and incident risk management with release of Security Audit Manager™ in 2003

HIMSS14

BOXFORD, Mass.--()--Iatric Systems, Inc., a comprehensive healthcare IT integration company, today celebrates more than 10 years of protecting patient privacy with its Security Audit Manager™ patient privacy auditing solution. Introduced to the healthcare industry in 2003, Security Audit Manager is used today by more than 700 healthcare facilities.

Security Audit Manager integrates and correlates all patient health information access data from diverse systems, enabling proactive breach detection and the automation of patient privacy monitoring. With near real-time detection, Security Audit Manager issues alerts on potential privacy breaches, identity theft, snooping, selling of patient information, or other unauthorized activity that may occur within a healthcare enterprise.

“Considering the fact that the HIPAA Security Rule wasn’t fully implemented until April 2005, I think it’s fair to say that Iatric Systems was extremely progressive in terms of introducing our Security Audit Manager patient privacy auditing solution to the market in 2003, giving healthcare facilities an automated way to conduct information system activity review. We had a vision of where EHRs would go and understood the significance behind HIPAA very early on,” said Frank Fortner, President of Iatric Systems. “Not only are we commemorating more than a decade of helping customers protect patient privacy, but we are also recognizing the growth and success of Security Audit Manager.”

Unlike some other solutions available today, Security Audit Manager can scale to support healthcare facilities and organizations of all sizes, and it is interoperable with any information system. Its tenure and success in the industry, as well as its ability to handle considerable quantities of data is what enticed organizations like Intermountain Healthcare to partner with Iatric Systems and leverage Security Audit Manager to complement the security and audit efforts across the 22-hospital and 185-clinic system. Other notable Security Audit Manager customers include UnityPoint Health and West Virginia University Hospitals.

“The problem that existed in 2003 and still exists today is that data often resides in multiple data silos. With Security Audit Manager, Iatric Systems capitalized on its data integration experience to bring disparate data together to form a comprehensive auditing program that improves patient privacy,” added Fortner. “HIPAA compliance, automating privacy auditing and eliminating these data silos was the driver behind creating Security Audit Manager, and even though systems have become more sophisticated over the last 10 years and new security standards like the Omnibus Rule have been introduced, all of the initial drivers are still core today.”

Security Audit Manager is 2014 ONC HIT certified as an EHR module for hospitals and eligible providers, giving healthcare facilities one certified solution that handles all patient privacy auditing and incident risk management.

Iatric Systems will be exhibiting at the HIMSS tradeshow Feb. 24-27 in booth #3217. Representatives and hospital customers will be available to discuss how Security Audit Manager is helping hospitals meet their Meaningful Use goals and protect patient privacy.
