27-mile bike ride through 12 Ridgeland neighborhoods features over 115 cyclists led by Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee to encourage homeowner pre-registration

WHAT:	C Spire and the city of Ridgeland sponsored a 27-mile bike ride through 12 of the city’s most picturesque neighborhoods Saturday to help raise awareness about the need for residents to sign up for the next-generation, ultra-fast 1 Gigabit per second broadband Internet access service. Ridgeland is one of nine Mississippi cities chosen by C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, for the game-changing fiber to the home infrastructure. Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee, an avid cyclist, led a group of over 115 bicyclists during the three hour ride, which began and ended at Freedom Ridge Park.
	Community volunteers were at the park and in the Bridgewater neighborhood to pre-register any Ridgeland homeowners who are interested in the service. Construction will begin in Ridgeland once a neighborhood reaches its percentage goal for pre-registration and enough homeowners sign up for the 100 times faster Internet, premium HD digital television and home phone services. When completed, the initiative promises to improve Internet speeds, boost home values, attract high-tech investment, create new jobs and help improve the quality of life in Ridgeland and the other cities.
