WASHINGTON--()--Danny Selnick, a 28-year industry veteran who has been the driving force behind the growth of Business Wire's Public Policy and LatinoWire services, has been named senior vice president, strategic markets.

In his new role, Selnick will focus on new business development opportunities across many sectors that would clearly benefit from Business Wire's innovative portfolio of products and services.

Well known in the Washington communications community, Selnick has acted in an advisory capacity to senior-level executives and officials at public relations agencies, government, associations, advocacy groups, political campaigns, organized labor, non-profits, foreign governments and corporations.

Selnick joined Business Wire in 2007, tasked with creating its Public Policy division. Its services are popular among associations, advocacy groups, non-profits, unions and government agencies as a proven platform to communicate their views to critical constituencies, including the media, decision-makers, influentials and the public. He assumed the additional responsibility of LatinoWire in 2012, growing its revenues to record levels.

"Danny brings a combination of market savvy, interpersonal skills, and a strong sense of enterprise and initiative to his new position," said Gregg Castano, president of Business Wire, who made today's announcement. "He clearly has the knowledge, ability, and resourcefulness to get the job done."

Selnick is co-chair of the Professional Development Committee of the National Capital Chapter of PRSA, and a member of the National Press Club's Luncheon Speakers, and Marketing and Communications Committees. He also serves as vice president of the Hispanic Public Relations Association's D.C.-chapter.

An accomplished magician, Selnick is vice president of International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 50 for the Washington, D.C., region.

Prior to joining Business Wire, Selnick ran PR Newswire's Washington office for 20 years. He has also worked in Bogota, Colombia. Selnick holds a Masters degree in International Affairs and Business from Columbia University.
