AOD Software Selected by Presbyterian Senior Living to Employ Clinical Software

Investment in EHR indicates consistent commitment to efficient, resident-centric care

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--()--AOD Software, delivering the industry’s leading integrated software solution to long-term care providers, announced today it was selected by Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) to implement its electronic health record (EHR) across 23 PSL locations. PSL works through a number of subsidiary organizations to form a network of communities and services that meet the diverse needs of more than 6,000 older adults in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and southeastern Ohio.

The EHR solution from AOD offers a single point of access to integrated clinical, financial and operational software, and will improve the standardized workflow and processes across the organization’s facilities. The EHR offers comprehensive charting and documentation, and the ability to support multiple lines of care and incident tracking within the software. The software’s “power chart” delivers a tool that allows caregivers to manage and anticipate tasks throughout the day – making sure a resident has taken important medications, for instance, before leaving the facility for an outing with family. Staff can likewise sort the day’s schedule by task type, compiling a list of all residents needing blood drawn, for example, so the tests can be completed efficiently.

“Answers EHR from AOD will provide an integrated and secure exchange of information to facilitate coordination of care in order to maximize quality and healthy outcomes for our residents,” shared Brian Stever, RN BSN CPEHR, resident information system manager at PSL. “When we began this process, we were seeking an EHR vendor and found a true partner through our relationship with AOD.”

Stever noted that this integrated solution from AOD will replace PSL’s current core clinical and financial system, with increased efficiencies and updated processes. PSL will also be able to collect data and perform analytics across the system to continue improving service to all residents. The more than 20 applications in PSL’s portfolio have been incompatible and a challenge to manage, an issue that is being addressed with the adoption of the Answers EHR. He added that complete integration of the software as well as the partnership approach to the relationship further supported the decision to implement.

“We remain committed to providing the best possible services to our customers like PSL,” stated Aric Agmon, President and CEO of AOD. “We look forward to growing this relationship and supporting PSL’s resident-centric objectives in the coming years.”

During the year-long search for an EHR partner, AOD was among 10 vendors evaluated, according to Stever. Thirty PSL employees participated in the selection process, including the development of a detailed needs list against which vendors were assessed.

The proposal, demonstrations and site visits proved AOD’s deep understanding of long-term care and the clinical setting; and the streamlined EHR software was designed to provide PSL with system-wide functionality and integration. PSL will conclude its three pilot sites by the second quarter of 2014, and other sites will be ready by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 deadline of October 1, 2014.
