O’Brien is the former state treasurer and receiver general of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She served three terms as a state representative and one as state senator. O’Brien made history as the first woman to serve as state treasurer and to be nominated by a major party for governor. Currently, she is the principal of the O’Brien Group, providing strategic advice to both early and growth-stage technology companies, and is the co-founder and president of Caelum Networks, a cloud-services company.
