Intelsat and Space Systems/Loral Celebrate 50 Satellites, Four Decades of Working Together

LUXEMBOURG--()--For more than four decades, Intelsat S.A. and Space Systems/Loral (SSL) have worked together to build and operate satellites that provide an essential element in the global communications infrastructure.

From the Intelsat V series of 15 satellites, which began launching in 1980, to Intelsat 20, the most powerful satellite in the Intelsat fleet, SSL and Intelsat have worked together to push the bounds of satellite technology and provide high value and reliability to the many service providers that depend on Intelsat’s communications infrastructure.

Recently, SSL was selected to build Intelsat 34, marking the 50th satellite SSL will provide to the company.

To mark the milestone of the 50th satellite, SSL President, John Celli and Intelsat S.A. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, David McGlade will host a reception for employees and members of the media on Wednesday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. EST.

The reception will feature a large-scale cake in the shape of the Intelsat 34 satellite. SSL commissioned Leslie Poyourow of award-winning Fancy Cakes by Leslie to create the cake for the occasion. Please join the Intelsat and SSL executives and communications teams to mark this important industry milestone.
