National Science Teachers Association Introduces Lineup of Interactive & Engaging Multi-Touch Books

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) today introduced new, highly interactive, Multi-Touch books that provide a professional development experience that is both engaging and inspiring for K–12 students. Rich with gorgeous color photography, dynamic enhancements and interactive features that enable you to learn, share and explore a new lineup of books including “Nature of Light”, “Interdependence of Life” as well as “Earth, Sun and Moon”.

Animations, simulations and video bring the stunning content to life, while pop-up review questions and special notes help underscore the most crucial points of knowledge. The presentation of materials is based on the 5E Instructional Model and the Disciplinary Core Ideas of the Next Generation Science Standards. Gain an in-depth refresher of content knowledge or just boost your confidence before tackling a tricky topic with your students as you indulge in the ultimate learning experience.

These books provide detailed explanations of key science concepts, plus self-directed, embedded assessment to allow readers to check their learning. Also, by using Multi-Touch books in the classroom, teachers can make key science ideas come alive for students.

Nature of Light explains the characteristics of light, discusses the concept of light as waves, explores the idea of light and color, and ultimately answers the question, “What is light?” Topics covered include reflection and refraction, the electromagnetic spectrum, light perception, and emission spectra and absorption spectra.

Interdependence of Life explores the interactions between organisms and the environments in which they live—Earth spheres, ecosystems, abiotic factors, biotic factors, populations characteristics, limiting factors, and carrying capacity—as well as species relationships. This Multi-Touch book examines, and demonstrates, the delicate balance that is kept by the organisms in these regions, not just from the perspective of the natural world, but based on human interactions and interference as well. The result is a representation of the rich tapestry of life that covers planet Earth.

Earth, Sun, and Moon explores the phenomena that can be explained by the positions and motions of Earth, its Moon, and the Sun. This Multi-Touch book focuses on topics related to the heating of Earth’s surface by the Sun, phases of the Moon, and the apparent changes in the position of objects in the night sky. It also covers some basic details about Earth, including the characteristics that make it unique in our solar system, its composition, and its capacity to support life.

NSTA’s Multi-Touch books are available for $17.99 iBooks: www.iTunes.com/iBooks.
