PARIS & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AIRTAG, a leading provider of mobile shopping solutions, today announced a collaboration with PayPal to bring new seamless features to the KFC Fast Track mobile wallet. Launched by KFC UK & Ireland and AIRTAG earlier this year, Fast Track enables customers to order and pay in advance for their meals before they arrive at the restaurant. Now, Fast Track users can login and check-out with PayPal making the transaction even faster and easier.
With the new features, KFC customers can create a Fast Track account using their existing PayPal account details by simply entering their username and password. Users bypass having to enter personal and bank or card details because, like any PayPal transaction, this information is stored securely within their PayPal account. From the very first order, PayPal users have a streamlined check-out experience, without having to provide their financial details to a third party.
“With the majority of mobile and online commerce traffic being lost during login and check-out processes, we are very excited to work with PayPal to provide KFC customers with faster alternatives that streamline the customer experience,” said Jérémie Leroyer CEO & Co-Founder of AIRTAG. “We are already seeing the majority of Fast Track orders being placed by mobile phone, and these new features will make it even more convenient for those on the go costumers to create an account, order and pay in the quickest way possible.”
“This collaboration is another step on the journey towards a wallet-less high street, where customers will be able to leave their wallet or purse at home and pay using their smartphone or tablet. Our research shows that a third of people would choose their smartphone over their wallet when leaving home - while 80% wish they could leave their wallet at home,” said Rob Harper, Head of Retail Services at PayPal UK, “We predict that by 2016 you won’t need your wallet to pay on the UK high street – your smartphone will be enough.”
The KFC Fast Track ordering experience
KFC UK & Ireland chose AIRTAG’s AIRSHOP white label mobile wallet solution to launch Fast Track. Fast Track enables KFC customers to order and pay using the website, web app or mobile wallet from anytime and anywhere. Using the geolocated mobile check-in feature, the customer notifies store staff they are ready for order pick-up. To add more value to the customer experience, users get to skip the line when picking up their order because Fast Track orders are prepared in priority. Fast Track is available now in Woking, Basingstoke, Southampton and Slough.

About KFC UK
KFC, the world’s largest chain of chicken-based quick service restaurants, grew from the chicken business set up by Colonel Harland D Sanders in the 1950s. The Colonel had found a way to combine 11 herbs and spices with flour to create a unique taste, and to this day the secret recipe is only known to a handful of people. It is locked away in a vault in Louisville, Kentucky.
KFC came to Britain in 1965, with the first store opening in Preston, Lancashire, and there are now 850 stores across the UK, with over 24,000 employees.
KFC has made considerable nutritional improvements in the last few years, cutting salt by as much as 50% and switching cooking oils to cut saturated fat levels in Original Recipe Chicken by up to 25%. KFC has also expanded its range to include lighter options, such as the Rancher, KFC’s first non-fried product.
In 2012, KFC was voted Britain’s Top Employer, and the company has been named as a Great Place to Work for the last three years. The company places a big importance on developing people, and became the first restaurant company in the UK to launch an honours degree – a BA (Hons) Business Management course in conjunction with De Montfort University, Leicester. KFC also works with City & Guilds to provide Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships to team members and team leaders.
KFC is also committed to benefiting the community, and uses its expertise at developing young people to work with some of the most disadvantaged young adults in the UK through a work experience partnership with Barnardo’s. The company also works to help the global community, and has raised over £4m for the United Nations World Food Programme in the last six years.
