WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that all 20,000 books in the science and technology portfolio on Elsevier’s ScienceDirect are now available via GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information), YBP Library Services’ collection development and acquisitions database. This is the result of an agreement between Elsevier and YBP Library Services (YBP), the academic division of Baker & Taylor.
Many academic, research and special libraries use YBP Library Services' GOBI3 to streamline the invoicing process when ordering books from different publisher platforms and third party aggregators. Libraries using GOBI3 will benefit from increased discoverability of the Elsevier books through YBP’s profiling and cataloging capabilities. This will allow libraries to acquire and access Elsevier’s high-quality monographs, book series and major reference work content more easily on ScienceDirect.
“YBP is very excited to offer Elsevier’s science and technology book titles hosted on the ScienceDirect platform through GOBI3,” said Mark Kendall, YBP’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations. “Our customers have expressed their desire for YBP to support their ability to acquire Elsevier book content hosted on ScienceDirect. As a result of their feedback, we are delighted to now offer our customers this option within the context of existing library workflows with YBP.”
“We sell through many channels to offer our customers purchasing flexibility,” said Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director of the Science and Technology Books at Elsevier. “The addition of Elsevier book content to GOBI3 expands this flexibility and benefits those libraries that prefer this platform by letting them search for, select and purchase all in one place.”
