AnMed Health Expands Relationship with Iatric Systems to Connect Multiple Technology Systems and Enhance Patient Care and Safety

Integration will provide clinicians with patient medication history and other vital data

BOXFORD, Mass.--()--Iatric Systems Inc., a comprehensive healthcare IT integration company, today announced an expanded partnership with AnMed Health to enable patient medication and other pertinent data to flow between multiple hospital systems, enhancing patient care and safety. AnMed Health, located in Anderson, S.C., began its relationship with Iatric Systems in 2009 to better monitor its pharmacy database and help prevent medication errors by leveraging the company’s DataAgent solution.

“We have had a great working relationship with Iatric Systems, and we wanted to leverage the company’s extensive experience integrating a multitude of hospital and departmental systems to determine other areas where we could increase data-sharing, improve processes and ensure we are providing the highest quality care possible,” said Tim Hipp, RPH, MSM, Pharmacy Manager for AnMed Health Medical Center. “Integrating these systems will help AnMed Health enhance patient safety and support our Meaningful Use Stage 2 attestation efforts.”

As part of the expanded relationship, Iatric Systems will integrate the hospital’s Health Care Systems (HCS) Medication Reconciliation software with its McKesson Horizon Clinicals® hospital information system (HIS). By integrating these two systems, AnMed Health clinicians can more easily access important patient medication data documented in HCS, including home medications. Additionally, Iatric Systems will connect the HCS solution to the hospital’s GE Healthcare Centricity PerioperativeTM solution so surgeons and anesthesiologists can see patient medication history without needing to switch between systems.

“By working with Iatric Systems to integrate HCS with McKesson Horizon Clinicals, we can provide clinicians across the hospital with patient medication history when and where they need it, which will help enhance the care we provide and ultimately, improve clinical outcomes,” said Hipp.

AnMed Health, which serves residents across eight counties in upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia, is also working with Iatric Systems to connect its Wellsoft Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) with McKesson Horizon Clinicals. With the EDIS and the HIS connected, inpatient clinicians will have greater visibility into the care provided and the medication administered while the patient was in the ED.

“AnMed Health is setting the standard in terms of having patient medication data flow across multiple systems so it is available to clinicians any time, anywhere. It’s rewarding when customers look to expand their relationship with Iatric Systems so they can further enhance patient care and safety,” said Frank Fortner, President of Iatric Systems. “AnMed Health is a great example of an organization thinking outside of the box to harness the power of integration and ensure pertinent patient data is in the hands of clinicians as they make clinical decisions.”
