Health Net Federal Services and the USO of Metropolitan Washington Team up for Annual Holiday Celebration for Military Families

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), today announced its annual Celebration of Children event at the Community Center on Fort Myer to be hosted in conjunction with United Service Organizations of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro).

More than 150 children from military bases across the DC Metro area are expected to participate in the event on Dec. 7, 2013. Children will enjoy breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus, games, face painting and karaoke in a winter wonderland ballroom.

“It is Health Net’s tradition to give back to our military families and respond to the unique challenges they face in meaningful ways,” said Thomas Carrato, president, Health Net Federal Services. “Celebration of Children is a special opportunity to recognize and support the children of those who serve to protect our country.”

Health Net employees participate in the event by dressing up as elves and popular cartoon characters, volunteering with the festivities and donating toys for the children.

“Health Net's Celebration of Children’s magical holiday party brings much joy to our military children, many of whom live far away from extended family members,” said Elaine Rogers, president and CEO of USO-Metro. “This is our seventh year partnering with Health Net on this incredibly festive event, and the enthusiasm the employee volunteers bring to this each and every year makes it an unforgettable celebration for so many deserving kids.”

In other Health Net locations – Woodland Hills, Calif.; Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and Tempe, Ariz. – the company has replaced its annual, company-wide holiday party with a morning of fun and games for local children in need. Since the inception of Celebration of Children in 1992, those locations have provided more than 25,000 disadvantaged youngsters with a joyous holiday experience they may not have had the opportunity to enjoy before.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Celebration of Children event at the Community Center on Fort Myer. Please R.S.V.P. with your name, contact information, outlet and vehicle information (model and tag number) to Angela.D.Kennedy@healthnet.com by Friday, Dec. 6, 11:30 a.m., in order to gain access onto the installation.
