“The film is as much about women's empowerment as it is about my passion for surfing,” said Marina Zawisza, film maker. "I want to inspire girls to get out in the water – do what they may have always wanted to but were afraid to try."
“Having the featured surfing pros join us live for the screening event is a first for our chapter,” said Scott Stripling, Chairman of Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter. “It’s going to be a real treat for the surfing community and our local Latin population with Argentina, Peru and Venezuela represented. Sofia was the first ever ASP World Champion from Latin America – that’s HUGE!”
“The community will also learn more about our Rise Above Plastics initiative and ways they can get involved with Surfrider to help our local beaches and waterways.”
The Surfrider Foundation www.surfrider.org mission is the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, California, Surfrider now maintains over 50,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide.
The Miami Chapter http://Miami.surfrider.org carries out Surfrider’s mission at the local level.
