BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Project Giving Kids, Inc., a 501 (c)(3), announced today the launch of its beta website which connects children to charities through a fun-to-use online experience. Project Giving Kids aims to cultivate empathy in young children with the goal of building lifelong advocates for causes and organizations through early engagement in service and volunteer experiences. Eleven well-established local charities are already registered on the site, and that number is growing.
Children can simply log on to www.projectgivingkids.org to find the next opportunity to help a cause they care about, then start a project with their family, at home, or in the community. Project Giving Kids provides children with an engaging experience online that they can then take and use offline with their families to connect in meaningful ways helping others.
“Imagine this: every time a kid says, I’m bored…every time a parent wishes they had a constructive outlet for their kids’ time, Project Giving Kids can help fill the void,” said Molly Yuska, founder & president of Project Giving Kids.
The eleven charities already a part of Project Giving Kids’ beta include: The Colored Pencil Project, Community Cooks, Cradles to Crayons, Ethos, Gotta Have Sole, Hope in Bloom, Hospitality Homes, MSPCA, Project Bread, Room to Grow, and Stray Pets in Need (SPIN).
“Cradles to Crayons is thrilled to partner with Project Giving Kids because research shows that time spent volunteering teaches empathy, community responsibility and good citizenship to children,” said Lynn Margherio, founder & CEO of Cradles to Crayons. “Cradles to Crayons is one of the few local volunteer opportunities for families with school-age children to serve side by side in engaging activities. The service experience empowers children to take lessons they have learned into their community to make a real difference.”
“We hope parents around the country see the same value we see in building a website like this and getting children involved in giving back to the community at an early age. We’re starting in Massachusetts, but our goal is to expand to other states. In order to do so, we need their support,” said Priya Shah, Project Giving Kids board member and a senior vice president for Hill Holliday.
In addition to unveiling its beta site today, Project Giving Kids is also launching a crowd-funding campaign on Razoo.com to help raise outside funds to grow their online presence.
