PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Underactive Bladder Foundation today announced the first International Congress of Urologic Research and Education on Aging Underactive Bladder (“CURE-UAB”), to be held at the North Marriot Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland on February 20th and 21st, 2014.
At the 1-½ day symposium, 125 delegates will learn about the future of underactive bladder (UAB), and seek consensus on poorly understood areas of the disease and associated symptoms. Key stakeholders, including physicians, scientists, industry and governmental representatives are invited to participate in groundbreaking discussions on this rapidly expanding area of research.
UAB refers to bladder underactivity causing difficulty in voiding, resulting in incomplete bladder emptying. UAB is associated with decreased quality of life, increased use of a urinary catheterization, and increased risk of urinary tract infections resistant to antibiotics.
CURE-UAB activities include:
- 5 sessions and 4 interactive working groups presented by a panel of internationally recognized faculty in the fields of urology, aging, and pharmacology;
- the opportunity to connect with UAB thought leaders, R&D scientists, and patients from around the world;
- hearing about the latest innovations and research in the field, and how to enhance care of patients with UAB; and
- the CURE-UAB Awards Reception, which recognizes abstracts and posters that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding research.
