Heptagon Expands Leadership Team and Offices in California and Singapore

Innovator of Intelligent Micro Imaging, Sensing and Light Systems for Smart Devices Taps World-Class Engineering Talent in Multiple Geographies

SINGAPORE--()--Heptagon (www.hptg.com), a leading provider of intelligent micro imaging, sensing and light systems for smart devices, announced that the company has increased its operations, process and production engineering capacity in Singapore, which is also the company’s headquarters.

Heptagon also announced two important changes to its leadership team. Ohad Meitav has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Meitav is based in Heptagon’s Silicon Valley office (Mountain View, CA), where currently he is adding dedicated specialists to its system, software and imaging teams. Mr. Meitav joined Heptagon from Zoran Corp., where he collaborated with leading imaging, camera, mobile, and consumer electronics companies.

In addition, Markus Rossi has been appointed as Chief Innovation Officer, with a greater concentration on future technologies and related intellectual property expansion. Mr. Rossi has been with Heptagon since its acquisition of CSEM in 2000. A thought leader in the micro-optics scientific community, Mr. Rossi is the author of numerous patents; he will now lead Heptagon’s innovation efforts with an increased focus on augmenting its intellectual property assets.

“Today’s news is more evidence of our investments in innovation and our strategy of leveraging different geographies to attract the best engineering talent in the world. We are delighted to have Ohad join our leadership team; he has a superb track record in leading world-class teams in product design and development,“ said Christian Tang-Jespersen, Heptagon’s chief executive officer & president. “Moreover, giving additional focus on innovation through Markus’ new role will further intensify our ability to pick the right next technologies and technology partners. Finally, having additional resources in Singapore, the world’s center of process and product innovation, accelerates our ability to deliver industry-leading solutions to customers.”

“I love building great products and collaborating with really smart people,” said Ohad Meitav. “Joining Heptagon enables me to combine these passions in a company full of very smart people with a unified focus on creating category-leading products that are having a profound impact on one of the most exciting and rapidly innovating consumer electronics categories in the world.”

“In the last ten years, we have established a strong track record for rapidly developing and delivering innovative micro-optics solutions for customers,” said Markus Rossi. “Today, Heptagon leads one of the fastest-changing areas in technology, where our innovations are literally transforming the way people interact with their smart devices. I am excited to deepen our commitment to identifying and delivering even more astonishing innovations to customers.”

Heptagon’s products are used in imaging, sensing and light applications that require miniaturization, precision and high performance. Its computational imaging cameras and sensing modules are used in smart phones, notebooks, tablets, and many other applications. Its light modules are used for LED flash in smart phones and smart devices, and as miniaturized solutions for infrared beam shaping and gesture control in natural user interfaces, including time of flight systems and other motion sensing applications. Heptagon has recently released products that help to radically reduce the height and total footprint of smart devices, including dual LED flash modules and some of the world’s tiniest IR emitters. This fall, Heptagon will release new products that enhance image quality by incorporating greater depth sensing with video-stream information, and that enhance gesture recognition and low-light imaging through use of infrared micro systems in smart device cameras.

Heptagon has unique competencies in wafer-level integration to produce high-performing micro optics, micro modules and micro imaging systems. Over 20 years of innovations in technology, manufacturing and operations, as well as rigorous supply chain management, form the foundation for Heptagon’s differentiation.
