(“Pretium” or “Company”) (NYSE: PVG). In a recently filed federal class action complaint, Pretium and certain of its officers and directors were charged with violating certain provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Specifically, the complaint alleges that among other things, defendants’ misrepresented and/or failed to disclose that: (i) Pretium had not acquired credible evidence demonstrating the quantity or quality of gold reserve estimates they had claims to have obtained during the Class Period; (ii) one of the firms Pretium had hired to provide independent analysis of the quantity and quality of the gold reserves was not using a reliable methodology to evaluate its gold reserve estimates; (iii) statements made by Pretium during the Class Period did not accurately classify the mineral resources; and (iv) as a result of the foregoing, Pretium’s gold estimates reported during the Class Period were not as reliable as it had led the market to believe. According to the complaint, when the truth was revealed to the public, Pretium’s stock plummeted.
