QlikTech Achieves Section 508 Compliance

QlikView Business Discovery Platform Now Accessible to Individuals with Disabilities

RADNOR, Pa.--()--QlikTech, (NASDAQ:QLIK), a leader in user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that QlikView 11 is now compliant under Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. Working together with Computer Intelligence Associates (http://www.ciacorp.com/), an independent advisor of Section 508 compliance, QlikView is now more readily accessible to people with disabilities.

Among other provisions that support users with special needs due to being hearing-impaired or having motor-related disabilities, certification means that the software can be used by people with vision impairments who rely on various assistive products to access computer-based information.

For example, a new QlikView client written in JavaScript now supports a variety of screen reading and screen magnification software tools to enable visually and mobility impaired users to easily access and navigate QlikView apps. This helps users distinguish between important functional elements as opposed to visual elements that are simply contributing to the overall appearance of the page. In addition, visually-impaired users are provided with the ability to navigate QlikView and can leverage assistive technologies, such as a screen reader to recite the QlikView result set to them, which also allow users to perform a level of navigation.

“At QlikTech, we believe that supporting the Section 508 requirements is not only important for government but more importantly, for all people with disabilities,” said Anthony Deighton, CTO and SVP of Products at QlikTech. “Accessibility considerations have expanded beyond applications built for government users. Whether a customer or a partner, software needs to be accessible to everyone and we are now able to help organizations achieve this goal. Through our product design and R&D, QlikTech is committed to exceeding these standards.”

Meeting the Section 508 standards adds to QlikTech’s already strong presence among government agencies who are increasingly selecting QlikView to support their data discovery and analytic needs.
