Solvay Extends Its Product Range in the Oil and Gas Stimulation Market with New TOLCIDE 4FRAC

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--Solvay introduces TOLCIDE® 4FRAC, the newest member of its TOLCIDE® family of biocides. TOLCIDE® 4FRAC delivers enhanced compatibility with polymer-based stimulation fluids and greater efficacy against acid-producing bacteria (APBs) even at low pH. TOLCIDE® 4FRAC has full regulatory support in the U.S. and will let you run your fracturing job safely.

Biocides — also known as antimicrobials, pesticides or algaecides — are chemical agents used in gas and oil production to combat Microbially Influenced Corrosion, protect the integrity of pipelines and equipment, and maintain human and environmental health and safety.

TOLCIDE® 4FRAC is an add-on to your stimulation fluid that provides fast kill of bacteria and long-term protection when producing from a reservoir.

Whether you batch mix or pump on the fly, TOLCIDE® 4FRAC can be used in with slick water job, gelled or hybrid fracturing fluid.

TOLCIDE® 4FRAC offers improved compatibility with

  • Polyacrylamide based friction reducer additives,
  • Native or derivatized guar based gelling agents,
  • Fully or partially cross-linked with borate, zirconate, titanate gelled fluids
  • Low or high pH fluid

Other benefits include the TOLCIDE® long-term microbial control on SRB, bio-fouling and souring prevention and corrosion protection.

TOLCIDE® 4FRAC is the newest addition to Solvay’s TOLCIDE® range of THPS products. Solvay offers full technical support and, with 25 years of experience, is a proven, innovative partner for service companies in the oil and gas field and water treatment industries.

“TOLCIDE® 4FRAC will be the new reference for the pumping service and production companies looking for safe and secure supply of biocides with a wide span of compatibility in fracturing fluids,” said Bruno Langlois, Global Business Development Director of Solvay’s Oil & Gas Market.

Solvay supplies a wide range of performance chemicals for oil drilling, stimulations, cementing and production fluids, drawing on a variety of technologies that includes guar (TIGUAR®), synthetic polymers, surfactants (RHODAFAC®, FENTACARE®) phosphorus derivatives (AQUARITE®) and biocides (TOLCIDE®).
