NuoDB Announces Major New Release Of Leading Distributed Database

NuoDB Blackbirds Release 2.0 delivers groundbreaking, geo-distributed capabilities for VoIP customer Fathom Voice

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--NuoDB, Inc., the NewSQL leader in distributed database technology, announces the general availability of NuoDB Blackbirds Release 2.0 during a live webcast at 1 PM (ET) today. The event will feature demonstrations of Release 2.0 and a customer’s first implementation of NuoDB as a single local database deployed in multiple geographies globally.

The customer, Fathom Voice, an innovative software-as-a-service provider, needed a SQL database that was architected for the reality of today’s global communications requirements, such as low latency and automated redundancy. They selected NuoDB and the implementation of their global VoIP platform began this summer.

Live Streamed Webcast To Feature NuoDB Customer Fathom Voice

Fathom Voice CEO, Cameron Weeks, and CTO, Bracken Fields, had a vision of providing customers with a single VoIP solution across geographically dispersed offices and for their customers’ many employees who travel extensively. The databases they had evaluated and tried did not fulfill their requirements.

During the webcast, NuoDB CEO Barry Morris and Weeks will discuss how NuoDB helped Fathom Voice solve these challenges and achieve the benefits they now accrue from their NuoDB deployment in Amazon Web Services (AWS) datacenters.

A complete list of the many new features in Release 2.0 can be found at this link. Registration is required to attend the live event. It will also be available in archive here.

“We needed a single, logical database that could be shared across multiple Amazon AWS servers in different geographies; updated in real-time; and automatically scaled out during peak demand to handle increased traffic, then back in during off peak hours,” stated Cameron Weeks, CEO and Co-Founder of Fathom Voice. “Only NuoDB could give us all this.”

“I'm excited to be partnered with Fathom Voice. The Fathom Voice application is typical of modern applications: web-scale, distributed and continuously available. Building a highly concurrent, distributed application that runs in multiple AWS regions requires a distributed database. Customers with those kinds of needs love NuoDB,” stated Barry Morris, CEO and Co-Founder of NuoDB, Inc.

"NuoDB is the most elegant database I've seen in a long time. It has a very powerful and innovative architecture, which demands attention," said Robin Bloor, Principal Analyst, The Bloor Group.
