FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Close Friends, the modern day web series that focuses on the lives, loves, and friendships of a group of six urban twentysomethings trying to find their way returns to YouTube.com/2Klifetv on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. EST. With over 340,000 YouTube views for season one; the highly anticipated second season will have 12 episodes, airing weekly, an increase that was requested by the series’ loyal and vocal fans.
Considered a new millennial urban version of the series Friends, or liken to the BET dramedy series The Game, the new season of Close Friends will pickup from the June 26 season one cliffhanger “All Falls Down.” Created, written, and co-directed by Ricky Jean-Francois, a twentysomething Haitian-American, season one of Close Friends was filmed locally in South Florida with a budget of zero.
The multicultural, multiracial cast consists of college students who agreed to film the series with no pay because of their love for acting. After the strong support Close Friends received, the close knit cast decided to hold a crowd funding on Indiegogo, an international crowd funding site. The month long fundraiser generated nearly $8,000, almost tripling their initial goal of $3250. The money was used to purchase better film equipment, to give the series an enhanced high definition quality for its viewers.
