LLamasoft Announces Innovative Supply Chain and Transportation Network Design Software Release

Supply Chain Guru 8.0 Features Advances in Inventory Optimization, Multi-Objective Optimization and Mapping Technologies

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--()--LLamasoft, the global leader in supply chain design software solutions, announces significant technology and usability enhancements in the 8.0 release of Supply Chain Guru and Transportation Guru supply chain and transportation network design software. Newly-added capabilities help businesses right-size inventory levels, optimize to multiple competing business goals and minimize transportation route costs.

  • Inventory Guru is an integrated third-generation inventory optimization tool within Supply Chain Guru 8.0 that enables companies to analyze and properly classify demand, factor all aspects of inventory for both existing and new supply chain structures and simulate real-world behavior. The result is a prescription for the right levels of working capital across the business that can lead to higher revenue and lower carrying costs.
  • Multi-objective optimization is an integrated tool within Supply Chain Guru 8.0 that allows customers to meet business challenges that include multiple competing goals. The tool automatically optimizes to and provides insight into any two of 19 available objectives and then builds a trade-off curve allowing analysts to visualize the interaction and span between different options.
  • Service-area mapping precisely displays service distance to various geographic regions using shaded areas bounded by actual street-level details. Since it takes into account actual turn-by-turn distances, the service area maps are much more accurate and visually appealing than traditional service maps created using concentric circles.
  • Transportation backhaul optimization is now available as part of the vehicle route optimization module in Transportation Guru and Supply Chain Guru. This tool identifies the most efficient inbound pick-ups based on the last stop of the outbound route in order to minimize the overall route cost by minimizing the time and distance trucks are driven empty.

“We began our partnership with LLamasoft on Supply Chain Guru 2.0 in 2003 and are still an active customer at version 8.0,” stated Ettore Piccirillo, Group CSE Director, Unilever. “The reasons we chose LLamasoft back then are the same reasons we continue our relationship today: LLamasoft offers the most innovative supply chain design technology and the people we work with are knowledgeable and dedicated to customer success.”

“More companies are making supply chain design a core business function competitive weapon for their business, and LLamasoft is continuously working to eliminate barriers and advance the supply chain design practice,” said Toby Brzoznowski, Executive Vice President of LLamasoft. “These newest capabilities further differentiate LLamasoft as the most complete supply chain design application on the market today.”
