Excess Baggage Company opens new retail facility at Mumbai

Leading UK-based luggage retailer enters Indian market

LONDON--()--Passengers flying from Mumbai Airport can now pick up last minute travel essentials and take advantage of a new baggage shipping service from Excess Baggage Company. A pop-up outlet retails a broad range of travel goods including Carlton luggage and accessories. Linked to the unit, a baggage shipping service allows passengers to forward unaccompanied luggage. The new outlets are part of the airport’s current drive to further enhance its passenger facilities in advance of the opening of its new terminal early next year.

The contract will run for two years. It marks Excess Baggage Company’s first business in India.

David Elliott, managing director of Excess Baggage Company said the world-class new offer was designed to help the airport achieve its ambition of competing with the globe’s leading airports, and as an internationally-renowned travel hub. ‘The airport’s new retail facilities will bring respected and globally recognised brands that are an essential constituent of the shopping experience at an international airport of standing. The design, atmosphere and service standards the new outlet offers are of the very highest, and we are certain that Mumbai passengers will find the amenities it offers invaluable. Excess Baggage’s long track record and extensive experience of operating in world-class airports such as London Gatwick and London Heathrow, as well as our strong local team, were instrumental in securing this new deal, and we’re very proud to be making our first venture into the Indian market.’

‘At Excess Baggage, we can offer a comprehensive range of services to make travelling through Mumbai an even better experience, and we very much hope to be bringing more facilities to the airport’s passengers in the near future. We are very keen to develop our presence here in India, both in the airport and rail station sectors.’
