WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--()--For the third consecutive year, Hatch®, a leading provider of early learning technology, receives a national award for its latest educational technology innovation. The WePlaySmart® by Hatch multi-touch learning table for preschool was selected by ComputED Gazette to receive the 18th Annual Education Software (EDDIE) Award in the early learning category. Hatch won the EDDIE Award in 2011 for the iStartSmart Learning System content solution for touchscreen computers and was awarded the Best Education Software Award for its K-1 interactive whiteboard content solution in 2012.

“The EDDIE Awards recognize the highest level of excellence in educational software, and we’re proud that WePlaySmart has received this honor, along with our other content solutions,” said Ginny Norton, President of Hatch. “I hope that this win by our interactive multi-touch table will serve as a catalyst to promote a greater focus on the importance of social-emotional skill development in pre-Kindergarten.”

WePlaySmart® by Hatch provides a cooperative learning environment for early learners that encourages positive behavior and teamwork. The table is delivered pre-loaded with over 275 cognitive, research-based activities developed exclusively for use in preschool classrooms. Every time children log in to play, the table records and saves audio of peer conversations that take place independent of adult supervision, so teachers can review, assess and report on interactions that authenticate each child’s social-emotional progress over a school year.

Presented by The ComputEd Gazette, the EDDIE Awards target innovative and content-rich programs (including apps for iPad and Android) as well as websites that augment the classroom curriculum and improve teacher productivity, providing parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence. Selection criteria include academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach, and management system. Winners are selected from titles submitted by publishers worldwide.
