ML Strategies Deepens Health Care Policy and Life Sciences Capabilities

Andrew Shin joins as a director in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON--()--ML Strategies, a wholly-owned consulting subsidiary of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C, announced that Andrew Shin has joined the firm as Director, Health Care Policy and Life Sciences. He will be based in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Shin brings to ML Strategies deep experience surrounding the regulatory, legislative and business landscape of health care services, payment, quality and innovation. He further expands the firm’s ability to provide strategic counsel to publicly traded and non-profit organizations, multi-stakeholder coalitions, trade groups and professional societies seeking to shape the most fundamental and developing issues affecting today’s health care and life sciences industries.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Shin served as a health policy and market analyst, advising large institutional investors and other financial sector clients. He also held the position of Acting Director for the Stakeholder Engagement division of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a role in which he worked with stakeholders ranging across providers, payers, patients and State/Federal agencies.

Mr. Shin’s experience also includes positions with the Massachusetts Hospital Association, Harvard School of Public Health, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the U.S. House of Representatives. During legislative proceedings about the Affordable Care Act, he served as a Health Policy Fellow for the majority staff on the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee and has also served as Legislative Counsel to a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee.

Mr. Shin is a magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University. He also holds a JD from Syracuse University College of Law and an MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. He is a Reynolds Foundation Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship at the Center for Public Leadership in the Kennedy School of Government, and also serves as an advisor to the Health, Biomedical Science and Society Program at the Aspen Institute.
