JUNO BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS), the leading provider of VistA-based software development and support, today announced that the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) will work with DSS to implement enterprise-wide, ARRA-certified electronic health record (EHR), vxVistA. DSS will provide implementation, training and maintenance support through the OMH EHR project contract led by prime contractor CGI Group Inc.
As one of the nation’s largest providers of mental health, the OMH has developed comprehensive plans to bring about transformative changes to achieve recovery for those living with mental illness. DSS is proud to be chosen to provide its EHR to assist the OMH in realizing its goals. During the first phase of this project, the OMH will utilize vxVistA at its hospital locations. This phase will allow the OMH to decide how to modify vxVistA to produce the “Empire State VistA” version, which will then be implemented at all OMH facilities. The project is contracted over four years with two additional option years.
The OMH plans to leverage additional vxVistA integrated solutions that are specific to behavioral health, including the DSS Mental Health Suite (vxMHS). This module helps optimize patient care by guiding practitioners across disciplines in treatment, planning and intake documentation specific to mental health care. With mental health care settings requiring more in-depth, narrative notes that are critical to treatment, this approach will move the OMH to a more standardized setting for those important details within each patient record. The OMH EHR will provide accessibility to patients’ records across the continuum of care. DSS will also provide the following modules to enhance the OMH’s efforts:
- vxComputerized Patient Record System
- vxBar Code Medication Administration
- vxGroup Notes
- vxDocument Manager
- vxClinical Note Templates and;
- vxRelease of Information
“We look forward to the OMH’s success as they leverage our VistA-based EHR expertise to achieve their goals,” said Mark Byers, CEO and president of DSS. “This partnership signifies an important move by the OMH, as mental health care organizations push to better utilize EHRs in order to achieve targeted patient outcomes and care delivery.”
DSS developed vxVistA based on the VA’s award-winning VistA system, which is proven to reduce costs and enhance the quality of patient care.
