TAMPA BAY, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AAMP of America, Inc. (www.aampofamerica.com), a portfolio company of Audax Private Equity, today announced the acquisition of INTRAPHEX – a manufacturer of aftermarket navigation, rearview mirror display and phone integration solutions – from Tatmar, LLC. With this purchase, AAMP of America acquires all INTRAPHEX assets and intellectual properties, including its R&D, operations and distribution facility in Grand Blanc, Michigan. This acquisition will allow AAMP of America to further strengthen its position in the mobile electronics industry, and specifically in the growing OEM integration category.
The integration of INTRAPHEX into the AAMP of America portfolio of brands – a family that includes such prestigious names as Stinger Electronics, Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC), American International, iSimple, Phoenix Gold and Precision Interface Electronics (PIE) – is part of an investment strategy to expand the company’s global presence in the consumer electronics market; specifically in the area of OEM integration and connected car technologies. Strategic milestones of this strategy have included the acquisitions and merger of Peripheral Electronics and Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC) into the world’s leading OEM integration solutions provider; launching the iSimple brand into the consumer electronics retail channel, and the recent acquisition of PIE to expand the company’s overall catalog of OEM integration technologies and intellectual properties.
According to Ron Freeman, President and CEO of AAMP of America, “I am excited to be bringing INTRAPHEX into the AAMP of America family. INTRAPHEX is a young technology company with a lot of energy and innovative ideas. This will allow us to expand the number of OEM integration products we offer to our customers around the world, as well as acquire assets located in close proximity to the headquarters and research facilities of the major US automakers. Additionally, INTRAPHEX will benefit from additional resources that will position it for greater growth and profitability.”
Brad Chapple, Chief Executive Officer of INTRAPHEX, said this of the merger, “We are thrilled that INTRAPHEX is becoming a part of the AAMP of America family. I see this acquisition as the best possible move for INTRAPHEX as a technology innovator, as well as our customers who have come to expect great things from us. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished at INTRAPHEX so far, and our new relationship with AAMP of America will allow us to leverage their expertise, resources and relationships to grow to even greater heights.”
The INTRAPHEX facility in Grand Blanc, Michigan will remain open and be integrated into the corporate infrastructure of AAMP of America. Additionally, the current team at INTRAPHEX – including Chapple and Chief Technical Officer, Donald Zaney – will remain in place through and after the transition. While AAMP of America will focus on synergies between INTRAPHEX and the other OEM integration brands in its portfolio for sales and marketing purposes, all INTRAPHEX products will retain their current branding, presentation and positioning.
INTRAPHEX manufactures OEM integration systems that push the boundaries of what is considered the “norm” in the automotive world. Winner of The SEMA Award in 2011 and 2013, as well as Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Awards in 2011 and 2012, INTRAPHEX provides navigation systems, rearview mirror display systems, backup cameras and automotive technology products that are both easy to install and user friendly. From its original touch screen navigation mirror, to its innovative Prodigy Systems and worldwide WP Series of vehicle & asset tracking systems, INTRAPHEX pushes the limits on technology, customer service and more.
