LOS ANGELES--()--Audyssey, the company whose science-based approach to audio equalization revolutionized the AVR market over the past decade, today announced plans to address a much broader segment of the consumer electronics market. Audyssey’s audio technologies are found in tens of millions of home theaters across the globe, and the company now aims to extend this proven science into any audio-capable CE product, including smartphones, televisions, set-top boxes, PCs, headphones, sound bars and audio docks.

“When Audyssey started, the listening experience was still linked to speakers in the home and our company developed the world’s first method that a consumer could use to correct acoustical problems,” said Chris Kyriakakis, Audyssey’s CTO and founder. “Today, listeners use a wide variety of devices that they can’t calibrate themselves. To address this, we’ve applied our technologies and expertise to deliver several solutions that let users enjoy an improved listening experience in any setting.”

At the core of Audyssey’s expanded focus is ExpertFit™, the company’s patented measurement technology that individually calibrates audio devices to account for variations in acoustical characteristics and human perception that negatively impact audio quality. Audyssey ExpertFit addresses these challenges and enables audio devices to deliver reference sound.

While Audyssey is formally announcing its strategic expansion this week at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin, the company has already demonstrated proof-of-concept for ExpertFit with its recent focus on the headphone market via its own branded iOS app. Thousands of engineering hours over the past year resulted in Audyssey’s cloud-based headphone EQ database, encompassing more than 250 models from 70 manufacturers. In building this headphone EQ database, the company demonstrated the ability to test and collect data from the products that comprise the headphone market segment and deliver an easily deployable solution that dramatically improves output from those devices.

While others focus only on generic post-processing of sound, they do not individually address the wide variety of headphones, speakers, sound bars and docks most consumers have today. Audyssey’s expanded ExpertFit offering now supports televisions, PCs and set-top boxes to deliver the highest possible audio performance for any attached device. ExpertFit is a powerful differentiator for companies that wish to set themselves apart from competitors by delivering a superior listening experience.
