RENAC: Ensuring Competitive Advantages in Trade and Commerce Using Energy Efficiency

BERLIN--()--Interested parties from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine can participate in free seminars on the subject of energy efficiency within the context of the TrEff Scholarship Programme from RENAC.

The subject of energy efficiency not only plays an increasingly important role in industry or buildings. There are also numerous opportunities to save energy in the areas of trade and commerce in particular. The high volume of office space creates high heating requirements: In Western Europe, space heating accounts for almost 50% of the energy used in trade and the commercial sector, one-quarter of it is required for mechanical energy (especially to power air-conditioning, ventilation and cooling applications). The remaining energy is mainly used for process heat, warm water applications and lighting.

The potentials for energy efficiency in trade and commerce are often unknown and remain unexploited. However, it is worth addressing this topic! In addition to economic and ecological advantages, such as the reduction in expenditure on energy and savings on overheads, as well as the reduction in emissions, energy efficiency measures can lead to improved working conditions.

Within the context of the TrEff-Project (Training in Energy Efficiency) from the Berlin-based Renewables Academy in Germany, energy experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine can now participate in a 5-day training programme on the subject of energy efficiency in the commercial sector.

TrEff is a scholarship programme and participation in the seminars is supported by the Energy Efficiency Export Initiative from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. 120 experts already participated in TrEff seminars in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine in spring 2013 on various topics relating to energy efficiency.

The series of seminars in autumn, where in addition to energy efficiency in commerce, other topics such as energy efficiency in industry and public buildings are on offer, will take place in the RENAC Energy Efficiency Training Centre in Berlin. A combination of classroom instruction, visits to energy efficiency projects, meeting with German companies and the opportunity to exchange international experience contributes to the learning success of the participants. Because the number of participants is limited, interested parties should submit their applications in good time.
