MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NavigationArts, a Digital Agency centered in User Experience, is proud to announce the release of an interactive iPad application as part of the opening of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is the largest transportation network in North America and when it opens, the Second Avenue Subway line in New York City will serve one of the most densely populated areas in the United States.
NavigationArts worked closely with the MTA to design and build an interactive exhibit to maximize community engagement while telling the unique story of the construction of the Second Avenue Subway. At four interactive stations along one wall of the CIC, visitors can scroll through iPads and see selected images and videos play on TV monitors in front of them. The first of these exhibits is a timeline of the history of New York City’s efforts to build the Second Avenue Subway. Future exhibits will highlight the technologies and processes used in modern subway construction, what you’ll find in the subterranean world of Second Avenue, and more.
“The Community Information Center and its interactive exhibition bring our aggressive community outreach initiatives to a whole new level,” said MTA Capital Construction President Michael Horodniceanu. “The CIC’s interactive exhibit provides a dynamic and engaging means of informing the public of overall project goals and milestones, as well as updates and construction progress.”
The Community Information Center is a one-stop shop where visitors can learn about the subway and its history, but most importantly it is a venue to learn about current construction information and a place for residents and business owners in the construction corridor to express their concerns. The interactive exhibit makes telling the history of the Second Avenue Subway stop more accessible, informative and interactive. The exhibit will be updated on a biannual basis.
“NavigationArts is excited to be a part of the MTA exhibit in their effort to share the rich history of the Second Avenue Subway project,” said Leo Mullen, NavigationArts’ CEO. “The iPad application is an important tool in sharing America’s powerful history, and we are proud to be a part of that effort.”
