21st CHART Service Event

Over 30 CHART members and guests arrived early to the conference to give back to the host city and volunteer at Shake-A-Leg Miami. On Saturday, July 20, 2013, volunteers helped clean up one of three islands the organization uses for their summer camp programs. Shake-A-Leg Miami is a not-for-profit working with children & adults with physical, developmental and economic challenges in a marine environment, utilizing Biscayne Bay to teach environmental lessons, therapeutic sailing, swimming & kayaking.

Jenny Hoey, Customer Service/Volunteer Coordinator for Shake-A-Leg Miami said, “Volunteers such as CHART are the backbone to our organization. We depend and appreciate their willingness to help so others can reach their full potential.”

“One of my favorite parts about being involved with CHART is we always make it a point to give back to the cities are conferences are located. Shake-A-Leg truly reflects the heart of Miami and it was great being able to work with them,” stated Mark Williams, Director of Development with Coakley & Williams Hotel Management Company and Service Event Director for CHART’s Miami Conference. “I’m thankful we were able to do what we could to help an organization that is doing so much for families in this area. A special thanks to Manny Overton who provided lunch courtesy of Papa John’s.”

Community service projects have been incorporated into CHART’s semi-annual conferences since 2002. Photos, with captions, of this 21st semi-annual community service event can be found at CHART’s News Room Photo Gallery.
