HedgeMark Tokyo Forum Provides Key Insights into How Hedge Fund Investors and Managers Are Using Managed Accounts

Leading global hedge fund managers, major institutional investors share thoughts on industry evolution in latest iteration of HedgeMark’s global Forum series

NEW YORK--()--Continuing its series of global hedge fund industry events, HedgeMark International, LLC (“HedgeMark”), a BNY Mellon affiliate, on Wednesday sponsored a “HedgeMark Forum” in Tokyo where nearly 100 institutional investors, consultants and hedge fund managers gathered to discuss the evolution of the hedge fund industry and the technology, research and risk management trends that are shaping the next phase in the industry’s growth and its evolving best practice standards.

Attendees were welcomed to the Forum by Ken Phillips, founder and CEO of HedgeMark, who gave an introductory talk on “The Next Generation in Hedge Fund Investing.” A panel discussion on “How Investors Are Using Managed Accounts” followed, featuring experts from BNY Mellon, Credit Suisse, K2 Advisors, LLC, and Nomura Funds Research and Technologies Co., Ltd.

Following a round of breakout sessions led by HedgeMark and BNY Mellon experts on risk and performance analytics; transparency, liquidity, control and governance in managed accounts; manager research and due diligence; and structuring and vendor selection in the area of fund administration, a panel discussion on hedge fund manager views concluded the educational component of the day’s agenda. Portfolio managers from NB Alternatives, Visium Asset Management, Willowbridge Investment Corporation, Victory Park Capital Advisors and Merricks Capital shared their thoughts with attendees.

The event was held at the Shangri La Hotel, and was the latest in a series of successful Forums that HedgeMark has hosted all over the world, including London and New York. Additional events are planned throughout the remainder of this year for major U.S. cities, Singapore and Sydney, Australia.

“The HedgeMark Forum series offers a unique opportunity for leading managers and institutional investors to share their latest thoughts on everything from investment strategy, to the growing trends towards managed accounts, to position-level risk management solutions,” said Phillips. “We’re very pleased with the response that our Forums have generated, and look forward to bringing this thought leadership series to new investment hubs around the world.”
