MILPITAS, Calif. & BIEL, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ: IXYS), an international power semiconductor and IC company, has completed its previously announced acquisition of Samsung’s 4- and 8-bit microcontroller line. The acquired product line includes MCUs for various consumer, medical, automotive, telecom and power management applications.

IXYS’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Zilog, Inc., will offer the 4- and 8-bit microcontrollers acquired from Samsung, as well as its current expansive MCU product offerings. Zilog is a pioneer in application-specific, embedded system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for the industrial and consumer markets. In fact, many of Samsung’s MCUs were originally based on Zilog’s legendary cores. Zilog will assume responsibility for customer support, R&D and supply chain of these acquired products; customers will also benefit from the added resources promoting further development of these MCUs.
Zilog will be working closely with Samsung to transition the product line, with expectations for quality products and timely deliveries. Additionally, IXYS and Samsung have secured a four-year foundry agreement, which will provide ample product supply for current Samsung customers.
