ESS Technology Introduces ES9018-2M Sabre32 Reference Stereo DAC for Mobile, Consumer and Professional Applications

FREMONT, Calif.--()--ESS Technology, a leading provider of high performance audio/video solutions, today announces the addition of the ES9018-2M Sabre32 Reference Stereo DAC to its high performance audio converter product line.

The ES9018-2M is the latest derivative of the world’s highest performance Sabre32 Reference DAC (ES9018) introduced in 2009. It is a two-channel 32-bit digital-to-analog converter targeted for audiophile-grade mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and digital music players, consumer devices such as Blu-ray players, audio pre-amplifiers and A/V receivers, as well as professional devices such as recording systems, mixer consoles and digital audio.

Unlike conventional sigma-delta (ΣΔ) DACs, the ES9018-2M Sabre32 Reference Stereo DAC incorporates innovative patented circuits to deliver spectacular music with up to 127dB dynamic range and 0.0001% (-120dB) total harmonic distortion, free from clock jitter common in digital audio systems. The 32-bit HyperStream™ modulator is capable of 100% modulation and unconditional stability; the Revolver™ Dynamic Element Matching ensures performance over a wide dynamic range, while a Time Domain Jitter Eliminator removes the digital jitter that causes distortion.

The ES9018-2M Sabre32 Reference Stereo DAC supports stereo conversion from digital audio input in PCM, DSD or SPDIF formats of up to 384kHz sampling rate, in both synchronous and ASRC (asynchronous sample rate conversion) modes, featuring click-free soft mute, volume control, de-emphasis, programmable zero detect, a small 28-QFN (5mmx5mm) package and low power consumption of less than 40mW under normal operations and 1mW at standby.

Robert Wong, vice-president of marketing and worldwide sales for ESS Technology, said, “The ES9018-2M SABRE32 Reference Stereo DAC, with its critically acclaimed SABRE sound stage, small footprint and low power consumption, is the perfect solution for audio products of all form factors and categories – mobile, desktop, consumer or professional. For the first time, audio enthusiasts can enjoy the ultimate SABRE SOUND experience anywhere they go.”

The ES9018-2M SABRE32 Reference Stereo DAC is sampling now in 28-QFN package and priced at $12 in quantities of 1000. Evaluation boards are also available for $250.

Additionally, ESS is sampling the ES9016-2M SABRE32 Ultra Stereo DAC (DNR=122dB, THD+N=-110dB) and ES9010-2M SABRE32 Premier Stereo DAC (DNR=116dB, THD+N=-106dB) at $6.5 and $3.5 respectively, both in quantities of 1000 and 28-QFN package.
