“This is an exciting time for Magento as our momentum in the European market continues to accelerate,” said Roy Rubin co-founder and chief operating officer of Magento. “We’ve seen incredible growth over the past 12 months reaching nearly 900 enterprise customers in Europe and even greater growth in the adoption of our Community Edition product. This strong interest underscores the value that merchants across Europe place on Magento’s unrivaled flexibility, scalability and superior total cost of ownership.”
As European online retail sales growth continues to outstrip offline growth, it is expected to reach €191 billion by 2017 according to Forrester Research, Inc.**, giving brands a tremendous opportunity to engage with customers in new and meaningful ways. The unifying focus for the over 1,850 members of the commerce community coming together this past week across major European cities were merchant innovation on Magento and pushing the technical limits of the Magento platform.
Fabian Goehler CEO of German luxury department store Ludwig Beck subsidiary ludwigbeck.de GmbH remarks, “Together with Mzentral, Magento, and the active support of the cosmetic industry, we have successfully delivered a unique online shop in less than nine months. The practical, clear structure and the stylish design extend the high quality user experience through responsive design to any device while staying true to our brand and emphasizing its competitive differentiation.”
“As health awareness continues to grow around the world, more global travelers are embracing the curative remedies offered by Chaine Thermale du Soleil while becoming very demanding about medical information quality,” said Eleonore Guerard, Marketing Director of Chaine Thermale du Soleil. “We wanted to ensure that our customers’ experience online was smooth and seamless while capturing the full breadth of treatment options that we offer. “Multichannel is an increasingly important part of our business, and ecommerce sales are growing dramatically in all our markets,” said Emma Bonar, Head of Ecommerce of European lingerie leader Hunkemoller. “With over 550 stores in 17 countries, over 2 million members in our loyalty program, and four websites in five languages, we expect our ecommerce platform to support not only the promotion-related peaks in our business but to also deliver a world class service to our customers. Magento has helped deliver on those expectations to grow our ecommerce sales 40% last year.”
