SANTA MONICA, Calif.--()--Goldline International announced a new addition to the Royal Canadian Mint’s limited production bullion coins honoring the 1st Special Service Force, also known as the “the Black Devils” or “the Devil’s Brigade,” the original special forces unit that conducted commando operations during World War II. This newest First Special Service Force coin contains a full ¾ ounces of pure silver and may be included in precious metals IRAs.

The Devil’s Brigade was the first elite special services combat force, forerunner to distinguished special forces units such as the United States’ Navy Seals, Delta Force, and Green Berets.

The Devil’s Brigade earned its moniker while fighting in Anzio, Italy. The Special Forces unit, tasked with holding approximately one-third of the Anzio front line, fought so fiercely that one German officer wrote, “the Black Devils are all around us every time we come into the line, and we never hear them come.” (Adelman and Walton’s The Devil’s Brigade [Naval Institute Press 1966].) The First Special Service Force was renowned for silently striking at enemy front lines, swiftly dislodging them from terrain considered impassable and fighting with the ferocity of a force several times its size.

The First Special Service Force pure silver coins display an American Star and Canadian Maple Leaf bracketing the Devil’s Brigade insignia: a spearhead emblazoned with “USA” and “Canada.” Below the insignia are two crossed arrows and the inscription “First Special Service Force” in English and French.

These limited production 3/4 ounce coins are crafted in .9999 pure silver and are Canadian legal tender. Each coin is guaranteed for its weight and purity by the Royal Canadian Mint. Due to their fineness, these bullion coins can be included in precious metals IRAs.

“The First Special Service Force was as an elite fighting unit during World War II that acted as a model for future Special Forces,” said Brian R. Crumbaker, Chief Executive Officer of Goldline. “Goldline is proud to offer exclusive coins which stand out as both top quality bullion and superbly crafted commemorative keepsakes honoring the 'Black Devils' who served their countries bravely and fearlessly.”
