SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a leading provider of next-generation network access solutions for the mobile enterprise, today announced that two Hyatt hotels in Seattle, Washington have selected and deployed Aruba’s wired and wireless LAN infrastructure to deliver Wi-Fi access to their hotel guests and staff. The Aruba network, which was deployed with the help of partner and integrator, Dodd Pellant Consulting of Bellingham, Washington, will replace the hotels’ existing networks.
Grand Hyatt Seattle and Hyatt at Olive 8, both located in downtown Seattle, are hosts to large numbers of both business and leisure travelers each year. Recognizing that they needed to meet the ever changing and increased technology requirements of their guests’ business and personal use, the hotels sought to upgrade their aging network to an Aruba 802.11n infrastructure that was PCI-enabled, secure, reliable and robust, to handle the hotels’ density and performance requirements. After a thorough evaluation of wireless vendor solutions, the Hyatt hotels chose Aruba’s 7210 mobility controller, AP-93H and AP-105 access points and Aruba S-2500 PoE switches for their deployment.
According to Mike Aguilar, Senior Information Technology Director for Grand Hyatt Seattle and Hyatt at Olive 8, once deployed for the hotels’ public areas and guest room High Speed Internet Access systems, it was clear that the Aruba network performed even better than the properties had expected. Aguilar noted that the installation of the Aruba network not only increased wireless performance, but allowed the hotels to support the 5Ghz band that all newer mobile devices require, making it much easier, for example, for Apple devices to connect – and more importantly – stay connected to the network. “Our Seattle properties are located in a city with high demand for exceptional Wi-Fi, which means that our guests expect top-notch performance and reliability,” said Aguilar. “Our goal is that Seattle Hyatt properties are the preferred hotels of choice for Seattle visitors and the Aruba network is an important factor in achieving that goal.”
In addition to providing better access for guests, the Aruba network now allows Hyatt hotel staff, equipped with more than 100 Apple iTouch devices, to communicate with HotSoS, Hyatt’s guest request system. “The overall better performance and reliability has our staff very excited about the new Wi-Fi network” Aguilar commented.
