DALLAS--()--The national plaintiff’s law firm of Baron and Budd and the Supreme Court Youth Organization are excited to announce that Chris Herren, former NBA player and inspirational speaker, will kick off the 2013 Hype Sports and Next Level Ballers Summer Jam. Herren will give his powerful presentation, “Elevate Above the Influences,” where he recalls his battle with substance abuse and how he overcame his addiction to achieve his dreams.

“We are thrilled to host Chris Herren at this year’s Summer Jam Tournament,” said Scott Summy, Baron and Budd shareholder and founder of the Supreme Court Youth Organization. “His message is very meaningful, and we want to help him get this message to as many children as possible.”

Chris Herren is a famed basketball player who played for the Denver Nuggets, the Boston Celtics and several other teams across the country. Despite a winning record, Herren battled with substance abuse. After almost losing everything, Herren turned his life around and has been drug and alcohol free since August 1, 2008.

Now, Herren travels the country, sharing his remarkable life story of addiction, drug abuse and recovery. He wrote a memoir, entitled Basketball Junkie, and was featured in the Emmy Award nominated ESPN documentary, Unguarded, which documented his life story.

The two-day Summer Jam 2013 event begins on June 1st at the state-of-the-art Fieldhouse USA facility in Frisco, Texas. Herren will kick off the event at 11 a.m. with his presentation, “Elevate Above the Influences,” and will take questions immediately following. The 2013 Summer Jam is a competitive basketball tournament where teams from around the country will compete to be the champion of this year’s “Summer Jam.”

The national plaintiff’s law firm of Baron and the Supreme Court Youth Organization are thrilled to be sponsoring Chris Herren at the Summer Jam 2013 basketball tournament. Scott Summy, Baron and Budd shareholder and founder of the Supreme Court Youth Organization, believes that Herren’s story will continue to impact the lives of boys and girls across the country and is honored to have him speak this weekend. Summy and his wife, Lenna, formed the Supreme Court Youth Organization in 2006.
