Thunder Valley Casino Resort Breaks World Apple Pie Eating Record at All-New Buffet Celebration

LINCOLN, Calif.--()--Thunder Valley Casino Resort is the new home of the World Record for most apple pie consumed by weight in six minutes. The feat was accomplished by Jamie “The Bear” McDonald as part of the AAA Four Diamond Resort’s 10th Anniversary Celebration and the grand opening of the All-New Buffet.

The World Record now stands at 9 pounds 8 ounces of apple pie, smashing the former record of 5 pounds 8 ounces.

A representative from All Pro Eating was on property to certify the achievement and the record will now be documented by the nation’s premiere food eating record organization. Guinness no longer certifies food eating records.

“We are proud to be the home of a new world record,” said Dawn Clayton, General Manager at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. “We just finished a $3.6 million remodel of our buffet and it is exciting to celebrate in such a big way. This June marks the 10-year anniversary for Thunder Valley and this is just one of many exciting events all summer long.”

In order to break the record, chefs at Thunder Valley spent several days testing different pie dimensions and discussing alternative crust-to-filling proportions. Ultimately, a single 10-pound pie baked on a special custom pie tin and prepared extra deep was decided on.

The first 100 guests who watched the event received free slices of Thunder Valley’s famous apple pie.

This summer Thunder Valley Casino Resort is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the $1 Million Camaro-a-Day Giveaway, where someone is guaranteed to win a brand new Camaro every day May 12 – June 9. On June 9, ten Camaros will be given away, and there will also be free cupcakes and a fireworks show in the evening.

Todd Greenwald of All Pro Eating said after the event, “Congratulations to Thunder Valley and Jamie ‘The Bear’ McDonald for breaking the record today. Between Jamie’s tenacity and Thunder Valley’s calculated pie preparation, I expect Thunder Valley to be the home of this record for a long time.”
