NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bayer Corporation announced today, in conjunction with the arrival of the Bayer 150 airship to the United States, the launch of the Bayer Airship Photo Contest.
As part of Bayer’s 150th anniversary celebration, the company will be flying its airship for a tour in New York and Northern New Jersey from May 16-23, 2013. The airship, which is made of nearly 5,000 feet of coated fabric, combines traditional aviation technology with advanced materials to achieve lift off with heated air, like a hot air balloon. The Bayer Cross on the hull is eight meters high and the company mission “Science For A Better Life” stretches over 18 meters. Bayer challenges residents and visitors in the area to capture the best photo image of the airship’s anniversary visit.
The free Bayer Airship Photo Contest, sponsored by Bayer Corporation, is open to registered Facebook users and will run for the duration of the ship’s U.S. voyage (May 16-23). During that time, Facebook users who capture an image depicting part of the airship’s journey in the U.S. can upload that image to the Bayer Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Bayer) through the “Photo Contest” application. A winner will be decided by votes from Facebook users who have registered as contest participants and will receive a surprise package, consisting of one or more items which have a total approximate U.S. retail dollar value of between $300 and $400 U.S. dollars. Entries can be submitted between 9:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“E.T.”) on May 16, 2013 and 5:59 p.m. E.T. on May 23, 2013. The Bayer airship is currently on a worldwide journey to celebrate 150 years of Bayer. During its weeklong tour in the United States, the airship has planned flights near the New York City skyline and a visit to Bayer HealthCare LLC’s future U.S. headquarters in Whippany, N.J. In addition to its stops in the U.S., the airship will visit international metropolitan areas such as Berlin, Tokyo, Singapore, Mexico City, Rio and Barcelona.
