Capella University Announces Redesign of MHA, MPH, MS in Homeland Security, and Nonprofit Management and Leadership Master's and Certificate

New streamlined curricula deliver learning outcomes with greater efficiency and cost savings

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has announced a redesign of four online master’s degrees and one certificate in its School of Public Service Leadership that will help students achieve their educational goals in less time and at a lower cost. They include Capella’s Master of Health Administration (MHA), Master of Public Health (MPH), MS in Homeland Security, and both the Nonprofit Management and Leadership master’s degree (MNML) and certificate. As of March 31, 2013, more than 36,000 students were pursuing an online degree at Capella. The learning and career outcomes of Capella’s students and alumni can be found at www.capellaresults.org.

“We evaluated and streamlined these programs to ensure that our students will be able to achieve the same learning outcomes as our previous programs, but with greater efficiency and cost savings,” said Suzanne Holmes, DPA, dean of Capella’s School of Public Service Leadership. “This will make their graduate education more affordable and decrease the time it takes for them to earn their degree and put their new professional capabilities into practice.”

Significant time and cost savings
Capella’s MHA, MPH, MS in Homeland Security, and MNML can now all be completed in as little as 18 months, sooner if a student has transfer credits. The Nonprofit Management and Leadership certificate can be completed in as little as six months. Students taking two courses a quarter can achieve the following time and cost savings:

  • Capella MHA students can complete their degree up to six months sooner and save up to $9500 over comparable online MHAs.1 Capella is the only online university whose MHA aligns with the National Center for Healthcare Leadership’s (NCHL) Health Leadership Competency Model—a recognized standard in health care education.
  • Capella MPH students can complete their degree up to six months sooner and save up to $2600 over comparable online programs.2
  • Capella MS in Homeland Security students can complete their degree one quarter sooner and save more than $1200 over the cost of Capella’s previous degree program.
  • Capella MNML students can save up to $15,500 over the cost of a comparable online program.3
