AirStrip and mVisum Announce Settlement of Patent Infringement Suit

SAN ANTONIO--()--AirStrip, Inc. and mVisum, Inc. announced today that the parties have settled AirStrip’s patent lawsuit against mVisum, Inc. Under the settlement, mVisum agrees to not offer products that would practice aspects of AirStrip’s U.S. Patent No. 8,255,238, including streaming or displaying real-time (or near real-time) patient physiological data. mVisum also agrees not to market any products that compress, cache, or buffer patient physiological data in a smartphone or tablet. In exchange, AirStrip has withdrawn its legal action filed in federal court in October 2012.

In August 2012, the U.S. Patent office awarded AirStrip a patent that protects the company’s technology, process and method of mobilizing real-time and near real time physiological data to smartphones and tablets.

Neither party is licensing any intellectual property from the other, and mVisum will continue to sell products without risk of suit from AirStrip so long as it is not practicing any aspects of AirStrip's patented invention.

“After a decade in the mHealth space, AirStrip will continue leading the development of mobility solutions in ways that can transform healthcare,” AirStrip co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Cameron Powell said. “However, this evolution must advance in a uniform manner in order to safeguard patients, minimize risks and strengthen outcomes as healthcare moves toward population management. We remain open to working with others who share this vision.”
