Make a "Splash" in Memphis at The Children's Museum's New "H2Oh! Splash" Spray Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--()--It’s time for fun in the sun this summer as The Children’s Museum of Memphis premieres its new "H2Oh! Splash" spray park exhibit on May 27, 2013, at 10am. The long anticipated grand opening of this garden-themed attraction provides over 7,700 square feet of cool fun. Boasting over 40 sprayers - including flowers, leaves, jet streams, magic mist, turtle, crab, snail, water jelly, geysers, aqua dome, spray loops, and water tunnel - children and families enjoy the refreshing water as they escape the summer heat in Memphis.

The garden theme allows children to have fun and learn educational concepts at the same time. Learning aspects include how plants grow, photosynthesis, and water and sun safety. Music is the centerpiece of the park with a whale-shaped water organ that plays like a piano.

"The splash park has been a dream of the museum for several years," said Richard C. Hackett, CEO. "It will be the largest and most elaborate spray park in the region. We thank Katherine and John Dobbs for bringing this dream alive."

Additions to the "H2Oh! Splash" exhibit include four carved, green granite turtles. The "turtle family" has a baby, child, mommy and daddy turtle - with the daddy weighing over two tons. The iron gates leading into the park have colorful, oversized flowers in steel painted in bright primary colors. Two lifeguard stands allow museum staff to watch over the safety of our guests.

Admission to the spray park is separate from the admission fee to the museum. The park is also not included in museum membership since it is seasonal and will only be open about five months out of the year (approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day). The park will be open daily 10am-6pm based on weather conditions. Prices: Monday-Thursday, $4 members & $8 non-members; Friday-Sunday, $5 members & $10 non-members. Prices and hours are subject to change. For current information, visit CMOM.COM.
