NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aegis Health Group, the nation’s leading provider of business development strategies for hospitals, has appointed William “Bill” Walker as chief technology officer. Walker joined Aegis in 2011 as vice president of information technology services.
In his new role, Walker will lead Aegis’ expansion into new technological arenas that complement the healthcare industry’s whole-scale adoption of data-driven results and electronic health records. The Affordable Care Act and Meaningful Use requirements have motivated physicians and hospitals nationwide to move toward digital platforms for managing patient information. Walker has been instrumental in keeping Aegis one step ahead of this movement through his efforts to:
- Expand the capabilities of sophisticated physician and employer relationship management software that allows hospitals to more efficiently managed and track relationships with their medical staff and local businesses.
- Adopt Health Level Seven (HL7) standards that enable seamless exchange of information between health information platforms. This supports hospitals’ ability to create more effective consumer-directed programs and improve overall population health, a key objective of healthcare reform.
- Develop an advanced consumer-focused software solution designed to help hospitals identify and address health risks earlier in the care continuum, which will launch later this year.
“Aegis is increasing its focus on developing new health information technology applications that hospitals can leverage to build relationships with physicians as well as the business community,” said Pearson Talbert, president of Aegis Health Group. “We are pleased to have Bill leading the way as we invest in technology-based solutions that help hospitals improve their community’s health while growing market share.”
For more than 20 years, Aegis has helped hospitals strengthen relationships with both consumers and physicians. Through its employer-directed health program, hospitals have developed partnerships with local businesses as a way to foster a healthier workforce. Aegis’ proprietary software provides aggregated population health information to employers, and determines potential health savings for businesses based on improving the health of their workforce. At the foundation of Aegis’ physician relationship management program is PRISM, proprietary contact management software that supports hospitals’ efforts to increase doctor loyalty and alignment.
