AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Genscape, widely recognized as the industry standard in providing real-time generation and transmission visibility to market participants, recently announced expansion of its generation coverage to include Austria.
In the first wave of Austrian coverage Genscape has targeted 3.6 GW of generation. The MWs covered includes ten key power plants. In the second wave of coverage, expected to be completed by the end of 2013, 4.8 GW of gas and coal-fired generation monitoring is planned. Further coverage plans include an additional eight targeted power plants for another 5.4 GWs of generation.
It is expected that by the end of 2013 Genscape will cover approximately 50% of Austria’s installed capacity, with plans to monitor 18 key power plants, including a variety of gas, coal, run of river, and storage plants.
Genscape’s real-time Power RT platform allows market participants who are price forecasting, modeling, predicting outputs, or conducting other types of analysis to use this data to develop better trading and hedging strategies. Genscape provides summaries of its monitored power generation and cross-border flow data, as well as views of a country’s fuel capacity utilization and generation stacks by fuel type.
