SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Open Networking Summits, Inc., the only nonprofit conference organization dedicated to accelerating the future of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, is proud to announce Centec Networks V350 as the winner of SDN Idol@ONS.
SDN Idol@ONS received 25 innovative submissions, which were judged by industry experts Brad Casemore of IDC, Stacey Higginbotham of GigaOm, Jim Wanderer of Google, and Shirish Sathaye of Khosla Ventures. Entrants were judged based on business value, technology value, novelty in the marketplace/differentiation against the competition, and overall advancement of the SDN marketplace.
The diverse panel of judges narrowed the entrants to five finalists, including Big Switch Networks, Hewlett Packard, NTT Communications, and Radware, in addition to Centec. Contestants were then asked to do a five minute presentation at the SDN Idol event at ONS 2013. The event was MCed by industry pundits Matthew Palmer and Roy Chua of SDN Central. Upon completion of the presentations on April 16, final voting was opened up to the audience to select the winner of SDN Idol@ONS.
Centec’s V350 open SDN platform is a cost-effective, high-performance switch for SDN and OpenFlow applications, and more importantly a complete open SDN platform. V350 is built on top of Centec’s latest switching silicon featuring Centec’s N-Flow architecture, which is designed to extend the number of flows while maintaining the economy and power scale for volume deployment. With V350, Centec Networks provides a complete turnkey solution from switching silicon to a standard productized hardware platform, as well as system-level software with open SDK integrated to help SDN vendors shorten their time to market and reduce development costs. The openness of the V350 platform enables further customization and differentiation, which is critical for SDN vendors to continue to innovate.
The SDN Idol@ONS competition was presented during the Open Networking Summit. The sold-out event attracted more than 1,600 attendees and 1,600 online participants from around the world. The two day conference had a sold out expo hall with more than 40 company exhibitors and demonstrations, along with 11 academic demonstrations and 12 academic posters to further facilitate discussions.
